Burg Bring
Edertal, Germany, Germany
Burg Bring is the scant ruin of a medieval castle situated in Edertal, Hesse, Germany, within the Waldeck-Frankenberg district near the Edersee reservoir.
Once part of the now-submerged village of Bringhausen—flooded in the 1920s-1930s during construction of the Eder Dam along with nearby Asel and Berich—it emerges briefly when autumn water levels drop, revealing remnants of old cemeteries, walls, and bridge foundations like the preserved four-arched Eder Bridge nearby.
Today, it serves as a poignant historical site accessible via guided tours during low-water periods, evoking the displacement of around 900 villagers whose half-timbered homes and churches were dismantled and relocated before the valley was inundated.
