Burg Lehrbach
Kirtorf, Germany, Germany
Burg Lehrbach is the ruin of a high medieval water castle located near Lehrbach, a district of Kirtorf in Hesse's Vogelsbergkreis, Germany.
First mentioned around 1180 and granted as a fief to the von Lehrbach family in 1349, it served as their seat until they abandoned it in 1550 for Heimertshausen, suffering destruction during the Thirty Years' War before 1901 restoration and partial collapse in 2006.
Today, the freely accessible site reveals a three-story entrance area, remnants of the curtain wall, and parts of the three-story Palas with portal, fireplace, windows, and stepped gable, reachable via woods from Hauptstraße near the modern Schloss Lehrbach care home.
