Burg Stolzenburg
Bayerfeld-Steckweiler, Germany, Germany
Burg Stolzenburg is a historic castle ruin located in the municipality of Bayerfeld-Steckweiler in the Donnersbergkreis district of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, near the villages that share its medieval dominion history.
During the Middle Ages, Bayerfeld and Steckweiler formed part of the Dominion of Stolzenberg centered on this castle, initially shared by the Counts of Falkenstein and Dukes of Palatine-Zweibrücken until the latter took full control.
The site transitioned through Further Austrian administration in 1782, French occupation post-1797 Treaty of Campo Formio, and later Austrian then Bavarian rule after the Congress of Vienna, fitting into the region's dense cluster of castles alongside nearby ones like those in Rockenhausen, Ilbesheim, and Gaugrehweiler.
