Burg und Festung Regenstein is a dramatic medieval rock castle and later Prussian fortress perched on a 294-meter sandstone cliff three kilometers north of Blankenburg in Germany's Harz Mountains.

First documented in 1162 under Count Konrad von Regenstein, its core was carved directly from the rock with 32 chambers, ditches, and a quarry-stone keep, guarding vital trade routes before ruin in the 15th century following the counts' relocation to Blankenburg.

From 1671, Prussians expanded it into a Baroque fortress with 1.2-km walls, casemates, and a garrison until French occupation in 1757 and Prussian demolition in 1758 during the Seven Years' War, now drawing tourists to explore its caverns, ramparts, and panoramic views via marked paths and events.
