Burgruine Alte Burg Waldmannshausen
Elbtal, Germany, Germany
Burgruine Alte Burg Waldmannshausen is the circular ruin of a 12th-century water castle located west of the newer Burg Waldmannshausen in Elbgrund, part of Elbtal municipality in Hesse's Limburg-Weilburg district, Germany.
Abandoned around 1486 when Thebes von Waldmannshausen built the adjacent late Gothic main castle due to its dilapidated state, it retains a wall section with remnants of two round towers amid its former moat and rampart layout. Today, the site forms part of a protected cultural monument complex used as a Schullandheim educational center since 1935.
