Burgruine Blumenstein
Wildeck, Germany, Germany
Burgruine Blumenstein is a picturesque castle ruin on a forested ridge at 350 meters elevation in the Richelsdorfer Gebirge mountains near Wildeck, Hesse, Germany.
Originally a medieval fortress from around 1250 known as Burg Wildeck, it was replaced in 1727 by Landgrave Ernst II Leopold of Hesse-Rotenburg with a Baroque hunting lodge called Jagdschloss Blumenstein, built using the old foundations after the original fell into ruin.
Today, visitors see remnants like a prominent gate arch, surviving wall sections, and foundations maintained by local groups, offering a scenic stop on hiking trails through the Wildecker Tal valley.
