Burgruine Weibertreu is the medieval hill‑castle ruin perched above the wine‑growing town of Weinsberg in Baden‑Württemberg, Germany, whose name means roughly “wifely loyalty.”

It dates back to at least the early 11th century and became famous for the 12th‑century siege of 1140, when the women of the castle famously saved their husbands by carrying them on their backs as allowed by the king’s surrender terms, an event that coined the castle’s enduring nickname Weibertreu.

The structure was later destroyed during the Peasants’ War in 1525, and only picturesque fragments of the outer walls, towers, and cellars remain, which today are maintained by a local women’s association and offer a short, scenic hike through vineyards and wide panoramic views over the Neckar valley and surrounding countryside.
