Castel Loriano
Marcianise, Italy, Italy
Castel Loriano is a historic feudal castle located on the outskirts of Marcianise, in the province of Caserta.
Believed to have origins dating back to the 11th or 12th century, it served as a fortified stronghold and was associated with several noble families over the centuries, including the Orsini, Caracciolo, Brancaccio, and Alamanni families. The castle originally featured defensive walls, towers, and a fortified layout typical of medieval military architecture.
Although it underwent numerous modifications and restorations over time, parts of its historic structure, including towers and sections of the defensive complex, still reflect its medieval character. Today, Castel Loriano is a privately owned historic monument protected as a cultural heritage site. Despite its deteriorated condition, it remains one of Marcianise’s most significant historical landmarks and an important reminder of the area's feudal past.
