Castelletto di Longhignana
Longhignana, Italy, Italy
Castelletto di Longhignana is a historic fortified residence located in the hamlet of Longhignana, within the municipality of Peschiera Borromeo near Milan.
Dating mainly to the 15th century, it developed from an older medieval site that was once associated with the Visconti family, rulers of Milan. Over the centuries, the property changed hands several times, including ownership by the Humiliati religious order and later the influential Borromeo family. The complex evolved from a defensive structure into a rural noble residence while retaining its enclosed courtyard layout and historic brick architecture.
Today, Castelletto di Longhignana is privately owned and remains a charming example of Lombardy’s medieval heritage. Its picturesque courtyards, historic buildings, and tranquil setting make it a distinctive landmark in the countryside east of Milan.
