Verified Castello Aselmeyer

Naples, Italy, Italy

Castello Aselmeyer is a distinctive neo-Gothic mansion in Naples, located along Corso Vittorio Emanuele in the Chiaia district.

Built between 1899 and 1902 by the British-born architect Lamont Young, it was originally designed as his private residence before being sold to the banker Carlo Aselmeyer, from whom it takes its name. Although called a “castle,” it is actually a residential building inspired by medieval architecture.

Its design combines English Gothic, Tudor, and Elizabethan elements, featuring towers, pointed arches, and a façade clad in Vesuvian stone, making it one of Naples’ most unusual architectural landmarks. Today, Castello Aselmeyer remains a private property and is not generally open to the public. However, its dramatic appearance and panoramic position overlooking the Gulf of Naples continue to make it a notable and admired feature of the city’s architectural heritage.
