Castello Baraing is a striking neo-Gothic castle located on a hill overlooking Pont-Saint-Martin in Italy’s Aosta Valley.

It was built between 1883 and 1894 by local physician and philanthropist Pietro Annibale Baraing, who envisioned it as a symbolic successor to the area’s older medieval castle while reflecting his commitment to the local community. Unlike most castles in the Aosta Valley, which date from the Middle Ages, Castello Baraing is a 19th-century residence distinguished by its elegant towers, decorative battlements, arched windows, and landscaped gardens.

Its architecture makes it one of the region’s most unusual and recognizable landmarks. After being donated to the municipality in 1931, the castle served as the town hall and later housed educational and administrative offices. Today, it remains an important cultural landmark, admired for its distinctive design and panoramic views over the surrounding valley.
