Castello Bonoris is a striking neo-Gothic castle in Montichiari, near Brescia, built on the site of a much older medieval fortress that once protected the local community.

While the original stronghold dates back to around the 11th century, the castle seen today was largely reconstructed between the late 19th and early 20th centuries by Count Gaetano Bonoris, who transformed the ruins into an impressive romantic residence inspired by medieval castles of northern Italy. Designed with towers, battlements, richly decorated halls, and landscaped gardens, the castle reflects the Gothic Revival style popular at the time.

Its interiors feature elaborate frescoes, carved furnishings, and artistic details created by skilled craftsmen and artists. Today, Castello Bonoris is owned by the Municipality of Montichiari and is open to visitors. It is one of the town’s most important landmarks, admired for its fairytale appearance, historical significance, and panoramic position overlooking the surrounding area.
