Castello Crivelli
Lomello, Province of Pavia, Italy, Italy
Castello Crivelli is a historic castle located in the center of Lomello, a town in the Lomellina region of the Province of Pavia.
Although its origins are uncertain, the castle was fortified during the Visconti era and later rebuilt as a defensive fortress by Antonio Crivelli after the mid-15th century, when the Crivelli family became lords of Lomello. In the 16th century, Cardinal Alessandro Crivelli transformed the fortress into an elegant noble residence.
He added a loggia, a grand staircase, and richly decorated rooms featuring frescoes that are considered notable examples of Lombard Mannerist art. Among the highlights are the Zodiac Room, the Saint Catherine of Alexandria Room, and a Roman floor mosaic dating from the 2nd century AD. Today, the castle is one of Lomello’s most important landmarks and a valuable part of the region’s cultural heritage.
