Castello Degli Orsini
Morlupo, Italy, Italy
Castello degli Orsini is a historic castle that dominates the center of Morlupo, a town north of Rome in the Lazio region.
The original medieval fortress was destroyed in 1433, and the present building was rebuilt and transformed in the 16th century by Antimo Orsini into a refined Renaissance residence. Designed around a symmetrical courtyard, the castle combined defensive features with elegant noble living spaces and occupied a strategic position overlooking important routes through the countryside.
After passing to the Borghese family in 1613, it gradually lost its role as a feudal residence, but it remains one of Morlupo’s most important landmarks and a notable example of Renaissance architecture in the region.
