Castello dei Doria is the iconic medieval fortress that crowns the hilltop town of Castelsardo in northern Sardinia.

Built by the powerful Genoese Doria family in the second half of the 13th century, it served as a strategic stronghold controlling maritime routes and the surrounding territory. The castle later passed to the Crown of Aragon and remained an important military and administrative center for centuries.

Today, the castle is one of Sardinia’s best-preserved fortresses, offering spectacular views over the Gulf of Asinara and the historic town below. Visitors can explore its ancient walls and towers and visit the Museum of Mediterranean Weaving housed inside, which showcases the island’s traditional basket-making heritage.
