Castello Dei Landriani
Italy, Italy
Castello dei Landriani is a historic medieval castle located in Vidigulfo, in the Province of Pavia, Lombardy.
The site dates back at least to the 12th century, though parts of the structure may originate from an earlier fortress built in the 10th century. It stood in a strategic border area long contested between Milan and Pavia, serving defensive, administrative, and residential purposes. The castle became closely associated with the noble Landriani family, who controlled it for centuries after receiving imperial recognition in the 14th century.
Over time, the fortress was modified and expanded, with much of the current structure dating from the 14th century while incorporating remnants of older buildings. After periods of decline and neglect, the castle underwent extensive restoration in the late 20th century. Today, it remains a notable example of Lombardy’s medieval heritage, admired for its tower, fortified architecture, and long connection to the region’s noble history.
