Castello del Mottolo is a historic castle located on a small hill known as the Mottolo in the La Montecchia area near Selvazzano Dentro, close to Padua in the Veneto region.

The site has medieval origins, and its most prominent feature is a large square tower dating from the 13th and 14th centuries, surrounded by buildings that once formed a fortified rural estate. Over the centuries, the castle was owned by several noble families and became part of the extensive estate of the Capodilista and later Emo-Capodilista family.

While originally a defensive stronghold, it gradually evolved into the center of a large agricultural property, with vineyards, farm buildings, and residential structures added around it. The castle’s appearance today reflects significant restorations and modifications carried out during the early 20th century, which blended historic elements with additions inspired by medieval architecture.

Despite these changes, the ancient tower remains the heart of the complex. Today, Castello del Mottolo forms part of the La Montecchia estate and is valued for its historical atmosphere, connection to local noble families, and picturesque setting among the Euganean Hills and surrounding vineyards.
