Castello Della Pietra
Italy, Italy
Castello della Pietra is one of Liguria’s most distinctive medieval castles, dramatically built between two towering rock formations in the Vobbia Valley within the Antola Regional Park.
Dating back to at least the 12th century, the fortress was constructed to control strategic routes through the Ligurian Apennines and later belonged to powerful noble families such as the Della Pietra, Spinola, and Adorno. Its extraordinary integration with the surrounding cliffs made it a formidable defensive stronghold and remains its most striking feature today.
Restored and open to visitors, the castle is celebrated for its unique architecture, fascinating history, and spectacular views over the wooded mountain landscape.
