Castello di Barletta is a large medieval and Renaissance fortress in the coastal city of Barletta, Puglia.

Originally established by the Normans in the 11th century, it was expanded and remodeled over the centuries by the Swabians, Angevins, Aragonese, and Spanish, creating the impressive structure that stands today. Because of its strategic location near the Adriatic Sea, the castle served as an important military stronghold and defensive center.

It was once surrounded by a moat and played a key role in protecting the city from attacks while also serving as a residence for rulers and military commanders. Today, Castello di Barletta is one of the city’s most important historic landmarks.
