Castello di Barone Canavese
Barone Canavese, Italy, Italy
Castello di Barone Canavese is a historic castle located on a hill overlooking the village of Barone Canavese in Piedmont, northern Italy.
Although its origins date back to the Middle Ages, the building was largely rebuilt in an elegant Baroque style between 1772 and 1774 for the Valperga family, based on designs by architect Costanzo Michela. The castle is notable for its refined architecture, featuring brick façades, a monumental elliptical staircase, and a grand circular central hall.
Some interior rooms still preserve beautiful 18th-century decorative elements and frescoes that reflect the nobility and artistic tastes of the period. Restored during the 20th century and still privately owned, the castle remains one of the architectural highlights of the Canavese area. Its elevated position, historic charm, and Baroque design make it an important landmark in the region.
