Castello di Bianello is a well-preserved medieval castle in Quattro Castella, near Reggio Emilia, and is the only surviving fortress of the four castles that gave the town its name.

Its origins date back to the early Middle Ages, and it became closely linked to the powerful Canossa family and Countess Matilda of Canossa, who used it as a residence and hosted important political figures there. In 1111, Emperor Henry V visited the castle and proclaimed Matilda Imperial Vicar of Italy, an event of great historical significance.

Over the centuries, the fortress evolved into an elegant noble residence while retaining many of its defensive features. Today, it is valued for its rich history, preserved architecture, historic frescoes, and panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.
