Castello di Burio is a historic hilltop castle located in the hamlet of Burio near Costigliole d’Asti, in the heart of Piedmont’s wine-growing landscape.

Dating back to the Middle Ages, it occupies a strategic position overlooking the valleys of the Tinella and Nizza rivers and is one of the few ancient castles in the area to have survived through the centuries. The castle features classic defensive elements such as towers and a drawbridge, reflecting its original military purpose.

Over time, it passed through the hands of several noble families, including the Lanzavecchia family, and was gradually adapted into a residence while retaining much of its medieval character. Today, Castello di Burio is admired for its historic architecture, panoramic setting among vineyards, and connection to local legends and regional history. It remains an important cultural landmark of the Monferrato and Asti area.
