Castello di Coazzano
Italy, Italy
Castello di Coazzano is a medieval castle located in the village of Coazzano, part of the municipality of Vernate near Milan.
Its origins date back to the first half of the 14th century, when a watchtower was built to oversee an important route between Milan and Pavia. Over time, additional buildings were added, transforming the site into a fortified rural residence. The castle later served various roles, including a convent for the Poor Clares of Pavia, and remained linked to religious and noble owners for centuries.
It was eventually converted into an agricultural estate before undergoing restoration efforts that helped preserve its historic features. Today, the castle is a privately owned landmark known for its medieval tower, quadrangular layout, porticoed courtyard, and traces of its former moat and drawbridge.
