Verified Castello di Corneliano Bertario

Corneliano Bertario, Italy, Italy

Castello di Corneliano Bertario, also known as Castello Borromeo di Corneliano Bertario, is a medieval fortress located in the village of Corneliano Bertario near Milan.

The oldest part of the complex, a fortified tower with walls nearly two meters thick, dates to around 1385, and the castle was expanded over the following centuries with defensive features such as a ravelin, bastion, and small prison cells. The castle has long been associated with prominent Milanese families, including the Visconti and Borromeo dynasties.

Surrounded by a historic rural village, forests, and farmland, it reflects the region’s medieval heritage and its close connection to the surrounding agricultural landscape. Today, the restored castle serves primarily as a venue for events, ceremonies, and cultural activities. Its preserved architecture, large courtyard, and picturesque setting make it one of the most charming historic landmarks in the countryside east of Milan.
