Verified Castello di Cremolino

Cremolino, Italy, Italy

Castello di Cremolino is a striking medieval castle that overlooks the village of Cremolino in the Alto Monferrato area of Piedmont.

Built on a rocky hilltop, its origins date back to the Middle Ages, with parts of the site tracing back to the 11th century. The castle was expanded by the Malaspina family in the late 13th century and became one of the most important strongholds in the region. Protected by multiple defensive walls, a drawbridge, and a massive tower, the fortress was considered extremely difficult to conquer and has retained much of its medieval character.

Over the centuries, it passed through the hands of several noble families, including the Doria and Serra families, and underwent careful restoration in modern times. Today, the castle remains a landmark of southern Monferrato, admired for its impressive architecture and panoramic views over the surrounding hills, vineyards, and even the Alps on clear days.
