Castello di Frascarolo
Italy, Italy
Castello di Frascarolo is a historic castle in the Lomellina region of Lombardy, near the border with Piedmont.
Originally a medieval fortress, it occupied a strategic position and played a role in the territorial conflicts that shaped northern Italy during the Middle Ages. The castle was rebuilt in the early 16th century under the Sforza era after earlier periods of destruction and warfare. The building is characterized by its quadrangular layout, four cylindrical corner towers, and a surrounding moat.
Extensive restorations in the late 19th century transformed it into an elegant aristocratic residence while preserving its historic appearance. Today, Castello di Frascarolo is one of the most notable landmarks in the area. Although it remains privately owned, it is admired for its excellent state of preservation and for representing centuries of local history and architecture.
