Castello di Monastero Bormida is a historic castle in the village of Monastero Bormida in Piedmont.

Its origins date back to around 1050, when Benedictine monks established an abbey on the site. Over time, the monastery was transformed into a castle, giving the village both its name and one of its most important landmarks. The castle retains elements from different periods of its history, including a Romanesque bell tower, medieval structures, and later Renaissance and Baroque additions.

Inside, visitors can find elegant mosaic floors and decorative frescoes that reflect its evolution from a religious center to a noble residence. Located beside the Bormida River and near a historic medieval bridge, the castle is a centerpiece of the village’s heritage. Today it is owned by the municipality and serves as a cultural venue, preserving the history and architectural character of this picturesque area of southern Piedmont.
