Castello di Morsasco is a historic castle that overlooks the village of Morsasco in Piedmont’s Alto Monferrato region.

First documented in the 13th century, it occupied a strategic position above the Bormida Valley, allowing its owners to control a wide area of the surrounding countryside. Over the centuries, it belonged to several prominent noble families, including the Del Bosco, Malaspina, Lodron, Centurione Scotto, and Pallavicini families.

Originally built as a military fortress, the castle was gradually expanded and transformed into an elegant noble residence. Its notable features include historic towers, frescoed rooms, ancient fireplaces, a private chapel, former prison cells, and a rare hall once used for the game of pallacorda, an ancestor of modern tennis.

Today, the castle remains one of the most important landmarks in the area. Set within the medieval village and surrounded by views of the Monferrato hills, it hosts guided visits, cultural events, concerts, and exhibitions, allowing visitors to explore both its rich history and architectural heritage.
