Castello di Pilonico Paterno is a small medieval fortified settlement in the countryside east of Perugia, in the Umbria region of Italy.

Dating back to at least the 12th and 13th centuries, it was part of a network of castles that helped control and protect this strategic border area between important medieval territories. The original castle was enclosed by walls and towers, although only parts of the structure, including a prominent tower, have survived.

Historically, the area was connected to local noble families and to nearby religious institutions, including the Knights Templar, who played an important role in the region during the Middle Ages. Today, Castello di Pilonico Paterno is valued for its historic character and rural setting. While much of the original fortress has disappeared over time, the remaining structures still reflect the area’s medieval heritage and offer a glimpse into the history of the Perugian countryside.
