Castello di Salle is a medieval castle in the Abruzzo region, originally built before the 11th century as part of the defensive system of the Abbey of San Clemente a Casauria.

Perched above the Orta Valley, it was designed to protect the surrounding territory and later evolved from a fortress into a noble residence owned by prominent families such as the Colonna, Gonzaga, and Di Genova families. In the 17th century, Baron Giacinto Di Genova transformed the castle into an elegant palace while preserving many of its defensive features.

The structure is known for its towers, crenellated walls, courtyard garden, and historic church dedicated to Blessed Roberto of Salle. Today, the castle is one of the most important landmarks in the area and stands near the ruins of Salle Vecchia, a village largely abandoned after the 1915 earthquake. It is valued for its rich history, impressive architecture, and panoramic setting within the Valle dell’Orta nature reserve.
