Castello di San Sebastiano Po - Location
Italy, Italy
Castello di San Sebastiano da Po is a historic castle located in the hilltop town of San Sebastiano da Po in Italy's Piedmont region, near Turin.
Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, with records of a fortified structure on the site as early as the 12th century, although the area was already important during the 10th century. Over the centuries, the castle was involved in regional conflicts and later transformed from a medieval fortress into an elegant noble residence.
A major renovation took place in the 18th century under Count Paolo Federico Novarina and architect Bernardo Antonio Vittone, who introduced Baroque and Neoclassical features. The castle is also known for its landscaped park, designed in 1810 by Xavier Kurten, and its frescoed interiors created by artist Pietro Bagetti.
Today, the castle is a well-preserved landmark surrounded by gardens and rolling countryside. It functions as a hospitality venue and is appreciated for its historic architecture, scenic views, and rich connection to the history of Piedmont.
