Castello di Scerpena is a medieval castle located near Manciano in southern Tuscany, surrounded by rolling hills, woodlands, and olive groves.

Built after the 11th century, it was owned by several important powers over the centuries, including the Abbey of Tre Fontane, the Aldobrandeschi family, and later the Republic of Siena due to its strategic location. Because of its position between the Albegna and Fiora valleys, the castle played an important defensive role and was frequently contested by rival noble families.

It remained under Sienese control until the region became part of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany in the 16th century. Today, Castello di Scerpena is a carefully restored historic estate that retains much of its medieval character while offering impressive views of the Tuscan countryside. Its stone architecture, historic chapel, gardens, and surrounding landscape make it one of the region’s most distinctive historic residences.
