Castello di Tornano is a medieval castle located in the Chianti countryside near Gaiole in Chianti, with origins dating back to around the year 1000.

It began as the center of a rural estate and played an important role in the region’s political and military history, frequently changing hands between powerful Sienese and Florentine noble families during the Middle Ages. The castle is particularly associated with the Ricasoli family and was strengthened over the centuries to withstand attacks during the conflicts that shaped Tuscany.

Its defensive features included fortified walls, a moat, and a prominent tower, many remnants of which can still be seen today. After periods of decline, the castle was carefully restored in the 20th century and transformed into a hospitality estate.
