Castello di Valbona is a remarkably well-preserved medieval fortress located at the foot of the Euganean Hills in Lozzo Atestino, near Padua.

Built around the year 1000 and expanded during the 13th and 14th centuries, it was an important defensive stronghold that controlled trade routes and the surrounding plains. The castle gained strategic importance under the Carraresi family of Padua, who strengthened its fortifications and used it to oversee the nearby Canale Bisato and local territory.

Unlike many castles in the region, it survived largely intact and still retains much of its original military architecture. Today, Castello di Valbona is both a historic monument and cultural attraction. Visitors can explore its towers, courtyards, and exhibition spaces, learn about the history of the area, and enjoy the unique atmosphere of one of the best-preserved medieval castles in the Veneto region.
