Castello di Zumelle is a well-preserved medieval castle located on a hill above the Terche stream in Borgo Valbelluna, in the Province of Belluno.

Its origins date back to Roman times, around 46-47 AD, when it was built to control important routes through the Valbelluna region. Over the centuries, it served as a strategic defensive stronghold and played a significant role in local history. The castle was rebuilt and expanded several times, notably in 1311 under the da Camino family.

Legends associated with the site tell of Gothic nobleman Genseric and twin children whose story is said to have inspired the name “Zumelle.” Today, Castello di Zumelle is considered the best-preserved castle in the Valbelluna area. Visitors can explore its tower, chapel, medieval rooms, museum spaces, and archaeological remains, while also enjoying cultural events, historical reenactments, and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
