Verified Castello Due Torri (Torriana)

Italy, Italy

Castello Due Torri, also known as the Castello di Scorticata, is a medieval fortress perched on a rocky hill in Poggio Torriana, overlooking the Marecchia Valley in Emilia-Romagna.

Its origins date back to around the 11th century, and its strategic position made it an important defensive stronghold controlling key routes between Romagna, Montefeltro, and Tuscany. The castle was long associated with the powerful Malatesta family and was contested by various regional powers over the centuries before losing its military importance in the 16th century.

Today, the restored remains, including its distinctive twin towers and imposing entrance, offer spectacular panoramic views and stand as a symbol of the area's medieval heritage.
