Castello Reale di Sarre is a historic royal residence in the Aosta Valley, overlooking the plain near Aosta.

Although its origins date back to the medieval period, the castle acquired its current appearance largely in the 18th century and became especially famous after being purchased by King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy in 1869 as a base for his hunting expeditions in the surrounding Alps. The castle was later used by other members of the House of Savoy and evolved from a hunting lodge into a prestigious royal retreat.

Its interiors are particularly notable for their extensive collection of ibex horns and hunting trophies, reflecting the royal family's passion for mountain hunting in what is now the Gran Paradiso National Park area. Today, Castello Reale di Sarre is a museum open to visitors. With its elegant rooms, royal furnishings, and panoramic views of the Alps, it offers a fascinating insight into the lifestyle of Italy’s former royal family and the history of the Aosta Valley.
