Castello Visconti di San Vito is a beautifully preserved medieval castle in Somma Lombardo, Lombardy, originally built in the 13th century as part of a defensive network along the Ticino River between Milan and Lake Maggiore.

It became the residence of the powerful Visconti family and was gradually expanded and transformed into an elegant noble home while retaining its historic fortress character. Over the centuries, the castle was enriched with Renaissance and Baroque features, including decorated halls, frescoes, courtyards, art collections, and valuable furnishings.

It was also associated with important historical figures, including members of the Visconti dynasty and Pope Gregory XIV, who was born there. Today, Castello Visconti di San Vito is one of Lombardy’s most significant historic residences.
