The Castle of Bruchsal, also known as Bruchsal Palace, is a grand Baroque palace complex in Bruchsal, Germany, built in the early 18th century by Damian Hugo Philipp von Schönborn, Prince-Bishop of Speyer. Designed with contributions from renowned architect Balthasar Neumann, the palace is famous for its striking Rococo interiors and an exquisite oval staircase regarded as a masterpiece of Baroque architecture.
The complex comprises over 50 buildings, including a three-winged residential building, a chapel, pavilions, and gardens. The palace was severely damaged in an air raid near the end of World War II but was meticulously restored by 1996.
Its artistic and architectural blend features influences from Italian, Dutch, English, and Westphalian styles, with lavish stucco work, frescoes, and illusionistic facade paintings enhancing its grand aesthetic and cultural significance.
