The Castle of Scaldasole is one of the most important and well-preserved medieval fortifications in the Lomellina region of Lombardy.

Its origins date back to the late 10th century, and it was later expanded and rebuilt by noble families, becoming both a defensive stronghold and an elegant residence. A distinctive feature of the complex is its 15th-century ricetto, a fortified enclosure designed to shelter the local population during times of danger.

The castle is also notable for its medieval towers, moat, courtyards, and Renaissance additions such as loggias, gardens, and decorative interiors. Over the centuries, the castle welcomed notable guests including Isabella of Aragon, Emperor Maximilian I, and Emperor Charles V. Today, it remains a private property and is admired as a remarkable example of Lombardy’s medieval and Renaissance architectural heritage.
