Castle Röderhof
Huy, Germany, Germany
Castle Röderhof is a restored manor house and estate in the Huy forest near Huy, Germany, originally serving as a 15th-century economic farm for Kloster Huysburg with later 18th- and 19th-century expansions including a chapel, cloister remnants, bridge, gatehouse, defensive towers—one topped with a Welsche Haube—and a grotto.
After the 1804 monastery secularization, it became a Prussian domain, briefly used by French forces, granted to General von Knesebeck in 1822 who built the main castle using monastery stones and expanded a brewery, before passing through owners like the Schliephakes until 1946 land reforms and later institutional uses.
Privatized and renovated since 1994, it now features cultural events, an art association in the old brewery, and serene woodland surroundings ideal for exploration.
