Built primarily between the 12th and 15th centuries by Conrad de Landsberg to defend nearby abbeys like Mont Sainte-Odile and Niedermunster, it features a central keep, Romanesque palace with gemel windows, an oriel chapel, and double defensive walls forming a Zwinger.
Privately owned and listed as a French historical monument since 1965, the forested site offers free hiking access for panoramic views, though largely ruined since Swedish destruction in 1632.
