Châtelard Castle is a medieval fortress located near the town of La Salle in Italy’s Aosta Valley.

Built in the early 13th century, it is believed to have been commissioned by Rodolphe Grossi, Bishop of Aosta, and was strategically positioned to oversee the important route from the Little St. Bernard Pass into the valley. The castle is best known for its distinctive circular tower, inspired by the fortified architecture associated with the House of Savoy.

Throughout its history, it served as a military stronghold and changed hands among several noble families, while also witnessing regional conflicts and invasions. Today, Châtelard Castle survives mainly as a picturesque ruin overlooking the surrounding countryside. Its striking tower and dramatic mountain setting make it an important example of medieval architecture and a notable landmark in the Aosta Valley.
