Corona Del Mar State Beach Park
Newport Beach, California, United States
Corona del Mar State Beach Park, often called “Big Corona,” is a state‑owned, city‑managed beach in the Corona del Mar neighborhood of Newport Beach, California, covering about 30 acres along the oceanfront.
This half‑mile‑long sandy beach lies on the east side of the Newport Harbor channel entrance, framed by coastal bluffs and a protective rock jetty that helps create a relatively calm, safe swimming area for families.
The park is popular for swimming, sunbathing, surfing, scuba diving, beach volleyball, and evening fires in on‑shore pits, with amenities such as restrooms, outdoor showers, picnic tables, and nearby parking at the main lot off Ocean Boulevard or via Inspiration Point at the eastern end.
Dogs are allowed on the sand only before 10 a.m. and after 4:30 p.m. when leashed, and the beach is open daily with free entry though parking usually requires a fee.
