Das neue Schloss Höchst
Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Germany
Das neue Schloss Höchst in Frankfurt am Main's Höchst district, Germany, emerged in the 17th century from two small noble estates between the castle moat, city wall, and Bolongaro Street, later acquired by the Electors of Mainz during the Thirty Years' War as a substitute residence after the Old Castle burned in 1635.
Known as the Cavaliersbau, this Renaissance-style complex with its curved gables, main wing from around 1600, parallel Rotes Haus, and garden extending to the Main River served electoral stays until sold in 1784 to merchants, undergoing varied uses and alterations into the 20th century.
Since 2002 owned by the German Foundation for Monument Protection alongside the Old Castle, it now hosts cultural events, guided tours during open house days, and contributes to the vibrant Höchst historic core celebrated annually at the Schlossfest.
