The David C. Shaw Arboretum, located within Holmdel Park in Holmdel Township, New Jersey, covers 22 acres and was established in 1963. It is named after David C. Shaw, who was superintendent of the Monmouth County Shade Tree Commission from 1963 to 2002 and played a key role in creating the arboretum.

The site features nearly 3,000 trees and shrubs representing hundreds of species, cultivars, and varieties suited to New Jersey’s climate. The arboretum serves as both an educational resource and a horticultural display, aiming to help homeowners learn about ornamental woody plants that can thrive locally.

Key collections include the Jane Kluis Memorial Dwarf Conifer Garden and a variety of ornamental species such as weeping Atlas cedar, cherry trees, crabapples, dogwoods, and firs. It is open daily to the public without charge and is part of a popular larger park with extensive recreational amenities.
