Dinklage is a town of around 13,900 residents in Lower Saxony's Vechta district, Germany, situated in the Oldenburger Münsterland region's rolling countryside near the Dammer Hills, roughly midway between Bremen and Osnabrück.

First mentioned in 980 AD with early fortresses like Ferdinandsburg, it rose to prominence under the von Galen family from the 17th century, gaining status as an imperial territory called a Herrlichkeit in 1677 before joining the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg in 1827.

Its standout landmark, Burg Dinklage—a vast 15th-century moated castle rebuilt in Renaissance style—now houses the Benedictine Abbey of St. Scholastica since 1949 and was the birthplace of Cardinal Clemens August von Galen, while the town blends agricultural roots with modern industry like iron foundries.
