The East Texas Arboretum in Athens, Texas, spans over 100 acres of natural landscape featuring dry hills, hardwood forests, seasonal bogs, and permanent wetlands along Walnut Creek. Established in 1993 on a former truck farm, it offers more than two miles of woodland trails and a variety of themed gardens such as butterfly, cottage, herb, native plant, and rose gardens.

The arboretum also includes historical buildings like the Wofford House, a restored mid-19th-century dogtrot-style log home that serves as a pioneer life museum with period furnishings and heritage gardens reflecting early Texas homesteading.

Visitors can enjoy scenic streams, a 115-foot suspension bridge, and educational programs, while the site hosts events ranging from gardening workshops to weddings.
