Verified Eichenzeller Schlösschen

Eichenzell, Germany, Germany

Eichenzeller Schlösschen is a charming Renaissance-style castle in the Büchenberg district of Eichenzell, south of Fulda in Hesse, Germany, with origins tracing back over 700 years.

Built around 1250-1260 as a tower castle by the noble Ebersberg family, it was expanded in 1548 into its current three-story form and later owned by Fulda's prince-abbots, including as a summer residence until secularization in 1802 transferred it to state and church use.

After periods of decay and private ownership, the municipality acquired it in 1963, renovating it from 1969-1971 into a vibrant community hub now housing the town hall, a historic wedding room, cultural hall for events, and a ground-floor tavern with bowling alleys, its restored facade proudly showcasing original Renaissance features.
