Eltz Castle, or Burg Eltz, is a medieval hill castle situated in the Eltz Forest above the small village of Wierschem in Rhineland‑Palatinate, Germany, between Koblenz and the Moselle River.

Built for more than 800 years, it has never been destroyed by war or fire and remains in the possession of the same branch of the House of Eltz whose ancestors started living there in the 12th century.

The castle sits on a 70‑meter‑high rocky spur above the Elzbach stream, surrounded by dense woodland that is now a protected nature reserve, and its turreted towers and timber‑framed buildings make it one of the best‑preserved and most photographed castles in Germany.

Today Eltz Castle is a major tourist attraction that opens seasonally, offering guided tours through its historic halls, family treasures, and the carefully maintained family home while still partly functioning as a private residence.
